Clau the CAREER CHANGER

Clau was mid-forties and completely bored with her job. Every day was routine. All the people she worked with were great. Her salary had plateaued - she was losing against inflation and “her welcomed by insufficient inflation based increases”. Worrying about her retirement, she also “felt” she had more to offer the world. Now was the right time - her youngest had moved out of home and she was freer to try something different.

Through a series of self development experiments, some online research, one decent book, asking people and some reflections, Clau narrowed her search to roles that were within 50-60% reach of her current role’s requirements.

A CV review, some practice in QnA’s for the kind of role descriptions that she found interesting, she spotted the right opportunity. We practiced the interview, checked her intentions, all the preparations and research, breathing training, talking calmly and authentically when under pressure - it had been many years since Clau’s last interview. Naturally, Clau made the change successfully!

A few years later, in her early fifties, Clau once again felt like she could do more, and that a career change “now or never” / “one last time” would be preferable to “riding it out”.

This time we did a bit more deep work and discovered a radically different calling to a life of “giving back”. Serendipitously we also discovered for Clau a very low cost, low-risk, supported learning path to get there!

Clau is currently working towards the new role and new life that she wishes to lead. We know already how much her health and confidence has once again bloomed! Her new career will be incredibly valuable to her, her family and friends, and the communities she is a member of.
