Nora the SCRUM MASTER
Nora was in her first Scrum Master role, having just come through a 1 Day Agile Introduction and a 2 Day Scrum Master training “bootcamp”. Previously Nora was a Business Analyst - this was her first leadership role! And the stakes for her newly assembling team were high - only the future of the entire organisation depended on her team’s successful delivery of a critical change!
Nora - and her organisation - needed Scrum coaching fast! A “burning platform” is often a really good incentive to try new ways of working (together).
Coaching started where we frequently do - her Purpose and how her life’s story had unfolded so far, and what goals were immediately ahead, as well as further afield. A picture emerged and we contracted to work together for six sessions over the coming three months. Which coincided with when her team had to be finished implementing the change in time for global rollout.
No pressure!
We looked at what Scrum was providing Nora, and what gaps had emerged. A few fairly swift cycles helping Nora deepen her understanding of things even more fundamental than Scrum and agile, Nora deeply appreciated deeper listening, mindsets, servant leadership, visualising, how to use metrics, qualitative measures, basic statistics and probability, teaming, consensus, vision and mission.
Nora coached her team on Scrum, agile, and all the things that she was quickly learning. We applied a “stitch in time saves nine” approach.
Nora’s Scrum team went from strength to strength - becoming high performance and delivering under high pressure. Truly an adventure for all involved!
